Savory Kitchin

About

Hello there, Welcome.

I’m David

A home chef, father of two boys and founder of Savory Kitchin. It’s nice to meet you.

I’m the author and recipe-maker behind Savory Kitchin. I started this  as a way to share my recipes.   It has become a bit more involved and I spend A LOT of time working on it!!

I live in Boston area, and am an avid outdoors person. I love reading books and traveling the world!

Welcome and don’t be afraid to comment!!

How did I get here?

To simultaneously date myself and quote a favorite song of mine… “Well, how did I get here?” I can tell you that I am absolutely not just another “Talking Head”…hint, hint.

I’ve wanted to start a food blog for a really long time. At first, I thought about running a food truck or maybe even a restaurant. But life changes, and after dipping my toes in the food business – briefly, I found out it wasn’t for me. So, here I am, and it’s great! I’m super excited to share all my cooking experiences with you. I’ve learned a lot of neat tips and tricks, and (interesting) ways to cook, and I can’t wait to share them with you.

Recipes are great, but the real fun starts when you go off-script. Maybe you toss in some extra garlic because why not? Or you realize you’re out of something and just roll with it. That’s when cooking gets interesting. I’ve had my fair share of winsᅳand, yeah, plenty of flops too, and I can’t wait to share those lessons with you.

Cooking’s more than just putting food on the table. Every time you fire up the stove, it’s like something delicious is just waiting to surprise you—cooking really can be an adventure. Maybe it’s a dish from halfway around the world, or a twist on Mom’s classic—but there’s always something exciting and new to try.

I’ll share my ups and downs—like that unforgettable time I confused salt with sugar (I know, classic!) and the day I finally conquered that elusive roast turkey. Cooking’s all about those moments—messy, laughter-filled, and full of unexpected lessons—that make it truly rewarding. And maybe, just maybe, these stories will give you that nudge to try something wild—or just have a blast experimenting in your kitchen!

In this blog, we ARE going to have fun in the kitchen. We’ll start with a few easy dishes that are surprisingly bold in flavorᅳsometimes the simplest things can really catch you off guard. Nothing too fancy, but definitely not boring. ⁤We’ll tackle some challenging dishes along the wayᅳbecause why not? ⁤⁤Who knows? ⁤⁤You might just amaze yourself with what ends up on your plateᅳsometimes the kitchen has a way of surprising us all. ⁤⁤Cooking for yourself, for your family, or even for a whole crowdᅳthere’s always something here that’ll catch your eye and make you want kick some kitchen butt!! ⁤⁤We’re going to keep things simple, but that doesn’t mean boring. ⁤⁤Feel free to experimentᅳthere’s so much room to explore new flavors and techniques, and who knows? ⁤⁤You might stumble on your next favorite combo! ⁤

A few resources for you aspiring food bloggers!

I am going to start with the thing that put me over the edge and really gave me the courage to begin.  Like most of you, I read a number of food blogs and one I kept going back to was Pinch of Yum.  Obviously there are many, many great recipes to try over there but they also have an amazing amount of resources.  The biggest one for me was there offering: Food Blogger Pro.  It is packed full of information on how to start a food blog, what to do, how to grow it, tools, resources and a ton more.  I am really thankful that I found the food blogger course as it has really got me on my way.

Ok, that really sounds like I am sponsored by them or something.  Full disclosure: I am not!  I am just a member of Food Blogger Pro and I feel like more people should know about it!

In terms of a few of the tools I am using so far:

Wordpress

Yoast SEO plugin

I will be adding some of my own techniques and tips for you to peruse like how to Julienne or how to roast grapes!  In the end, this is supposed to be fun and a great way to share.

Happy Cooking!!!
